PORTOFOLIO OF WORK

Portfolio of work.
I have done my internship at Exceptional Real-estate, and Exceptional Tuition and resume. This company is new in the industry, with a director as head of company. They are taking a lean model approach to staffing over the next year until they achieve enough properties to hire a property manager who will conduct all entries, exits, inspections and Gold Coast based marketing to attract property owners.
Their marketing team is the same team who market in Exceptional Tuition and Resume as they are attempting to attract university students from the Gold Coast, they are the ones who do the marketing posters at Griffith University specially. This team is also trained in Facebook marketing too. At this moment, their goal is to gain properties as they have run out of space to house students.
At Exceptional Real Estate and Exceptional Tuition and Resume, my role was firstly marketing, where I had to perform both online and offline marketing skills. Online marketing helped me post data on social media, update them and share information about the company. For example, At the Gold Coast carrier’s exposition, I had to take photo of my supervisor, talking to students about the company, take photos of all activities happening at the event concerning exceptional real estate, and exceptional tuition and resume, and share them on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat. In fact, sharing those photos on social media will allow the company send information to target public who are international students living on the Gold Coast. This company had to use this tool of social media marketing to develop programs,
change behaviours, or create products for social good. The use of social marketing framework was well considered As Panzera,et al (2013, P. 922) claim that Social marketing is used to develop programs, change behaviours, or create products for social good.
Social marketing goes together with the 4Ps, collectively referred as the marketing mix: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. The main product is the behaviour, program, or entity being developed and encouraged for adoption by the target population.

The offline marketing, I performed was when my supervisor gave me some pamphlets and posters of Exceptional Tuition and resume to distribute around the universities; I distributed around Griffith University, Nathan campus, and at Mont Gravatt Campus, and finally we drove down the road at the University of Queensland to complete the distribution. In these activities, we were targeting international students. I find this activity very challenging, but my supervisor told me in advance that I should wear walking shoose because I had to do a bit of walk around these three universities in one day. Knowing that these posters will change the behaviour of our target public and make them to act accordingly. It is said that posters have been a competent power in shaping community sentiment, because promoters have long known that visual impressions are very strong. People could forget a newspaper article but most remember a picture. A pamphlet or a newspaper can be thrown away, unread; the radio or television turned off; film or political meeting not attended, but everyone at some time or other notices messages when walking or driving, or see posters on bulletin boards in offices, hospitals, clinics, or pharmacies. The main objective of posters, as with other communication media is to influence attitudes and to sell a product or service or to change behaviour patterns. (Fox, K. 2009, P.77)
I also had to use my Public Relations skills and a little bit of journalism skills to perform some other tasks at the carriers exposition event at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre; Because My supervisor was given specific time to address to people invited, she had to speak in the morning and afternoon, I had to prepare the room, make sure we had everything we needed, putting information kits on every chair, making sure the microphone and all my equipment of shooting was ready to go; and when the seminar commenced, I was there for her as a media coverage, I started filming the event.
During my internship, my supervisor gave me a variety of task in a daily basis, the following points are the duties performed while on placement:

  • Opened Three Facebook accounts and Three LinkedIn accounts for my supervisor.
  • Produce an Excel sheet for Organisation address. This was to contact house owners
  • Producing a contact document for resorts: This was to contact resorts to enquire about rooms availabilities or share rooms for international students
  • Producing a contact document for hair Extension companies: this was for my supervisor as she was selected among the top Fifty models, so she had to contact hair salons to see if there is any way they can collaborate and promote their business.
  • Providing a list of travel agencies: as mentioned above to see if there was a way to promote their business.
  • Participating in student induction at properties: I had to welcome international students at the resort in Gold Coast. This activity made me feel professional, a felt like I am the real estate agent, a property manager welcoming tenants, and proceeding induction with them.
  • Calling organisation to get email addresses so my supervisor could contact them.
  • Colleting pamphlets, flyers, posters all around lectures and libraries at Griffith Nathan campus, Mont Gravatt Campus and University of Queensland, Saint Lucia campus. This was to inform and target all students, especially international once about exceptional real estate and exceptional tuition and resume,
  • Take photos and videos of Monique speaking at the Gold Coast career exposition: This was one of the busiest day I had during my internship. First, my supervisor and I set up our tent. Put the information packs on table, lolies and other staff; then the students started coming from schools, , my supervisor and I talked to them about the company, I was asked to take photos of them and sked them to upload them on social media, and make them to like our page on Facebook.

This was to target international student concerning accommodations, and resume writing

This photo was used for social media marketing, targeting international students based on the Gold Coast who will need help with resume writing, home and online tutoring for high school and university students, we received many student at our tent, during the careers exposition, I had to welcome students and talked to them concerning Exceptional Real Estate and Exceptional Tuition and Resume, encouraging them to like the page on Facebook, share it on Instagram and Snap chat.

At the Careers Exposition, my supervisor had to talk in the morning and evening the same day, I played the role of a media manager, organising all the information packs, containing flyers, business card and lollies, putting them on chairs in the presentation room, I also played the role of media coverage, like a journalist who will be filming, so I made sure all my equipment were ready to go, and I filmed and took photos of my supervisor talking during the meeting.  using my iphone and hers as well. using this way of filming from the iphone will help her send the video to the computer and then upload it online. in fact, it is the best way to communicate with target public as Meng et al (2016, P. 1) claim that "Smartphones running the Android Operating System (OS) from Google and the iPhones by Apple are widely adopted by millions of people to communicate with others, surf the Internet and purchase online".

We received many students who wanted to know more about the resume writing, and the online tuition, they were happy to ask questions and my supervisor and I answered them, and obviously we asked them to like our Facebook page, take a photo on front of the poster and share them on Facebook, Instagram, and Snap-chat. my supervisor and I wanted to use social media to make the company brand known by our target public, which are international students living on the Gold Coast. the use of social media marketing was very effective as we could spread the news on different platform such as Facebook and Snap chat. Shen & Bissell,  (2013, P. 632) emphasize that"
Not only does Facebook democratise or facilitate the information exchange in the marketplace to some extent, it also triggers higher expectations from brands held by consumers". Shen & Bissell,  (2013, P. 632).
